FAQs

Each candle includes care and lighting instructions on the bottom label. Candles add a fragrant enhancement to living and work spaces and are safe to enjoy, but we encourage care and attention to the following guidelines:

  • Always burn candles in a well-ventilated room and on a heat-safe surface.

  • Do not leave a burning candle unattended.

  • Avoid drafts, vents, ceiling fans or other moving air pathways to encourage even burning and minimize smoke or a flickering wick.

  • Never touch a burning candle or move a candle when the wax is liquid - it's hot!

  • Never extinguish candles with water.

  • Make sure a candle is completely extinguished before leaving the room.

  • Keep candles out of the reach of small children and pets.

  • Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire.

Before

  • Always trim your wick to 1/8” - 1/4” before lighting. Your candle will burn longer, cleaner, and more evenly over time.

During

  • For the initial burn, allow the candle to create a full melted wax pool across the entire candle. This will ensure even burning and maximum fragrance release for the life of your candle and is typically achieved within 3 hours.

  • We recommend a burn time of 3-4 hours for subsequent lightings, fully melting the wax across the top each time. If you like to leave a candle burning for an extended time, we strongly recommend extinguishing the flame, trimming the wicks, and relighting every 3-4 hours. This will prolong the burn time and reduce the possibility of excess carbon buildup on the wick tip (which occurs regardless of the wax/fragrance formula).

  • If your wick begins smoking or flickering excessively, extinguish the flame and trim the wick – then relight the candle.

  • Keep the wax pool clear of wick trimmings, matches, and debris at all times.

After

  • Use care when extinguishing the candle; a short, directed puff of air aimed at each wick is usually enough. Alternatively, you can use a candle snuffer. 

  • Tip: to prevent smoke from an extinguished wick, gently bend the wick until it touches the melted wax. This will immediately extinguish any smoke. Alternatively, you can use a toothpick or other utensil to gently drip a couple of drops of the melted wax onto the wick tip for the same result.

  • Do not move candles until the wax is cooled and set. Use caution as containers can be hot to the touch.

  • Discard candles when there is 1/4 inch of wax remaining.

1. All Sales Are Final: Due to the nature of our products, all sales are final. We do not accept returns, exchanges, or offer refunds for products, except in the case of a defective or damaged item.

 

2. Defective or Damaged Items:

 

2.1 If you receive a defective or damaged item, please contact our customer service team within 2 days of receiving your order. We may require you to provide photographs or other evidence of the defect or damage.

 

2.2 Upon verification of the defect or damage, we will offer one of the following options:

  • Replacement: We will send you a replacement for the defective or damaged item at no additional cost.

  • Store Credit: If a replacement is not available, we may offer a store credit for the value of the defective or damaged item.

3. Return Procedure for Defective or Damaged Items:

3.1 To initiate a return for a defective or damaged item, please contact our customer service team at hellocoastalfix@gmail.com. Provide your order details, a description of the defect or damage, and any supporting evidence, such as photographs. 

 

3.2 Our customer service team will provide you with instructions on how to proceed with the return, including the return address and any additional requirements.

 

3.3 Please ensure that the item is securely packaged to prevent further damage during transit. We recommend using a trackable shipping service to return the item and keeping the shipping receipt for reference. 

 

3.4 Once we receive the returned item, we will assess its condition. If the defect or damage is confirmed, we will proceed with the appropriate resolution as mentioned in section 2. If the defect or damage is not confirmed, the item will be returned to you at your expense.

Please note that this Return Policy applies to online purchases made directly from Coastal Fix. If you purchased our products through a third-party retailer, please refer to their return policy for further instructions.

 

We reserve the right to modify or update this Return Policy at any time without prior notice. The updated policy will be posted on our website with a revised effective date.

How long does a candle typically burn? 

  • The burn time of a candle depends on various factors, including its size, type, and quality. Generally, our candles have an estimated burn time of around 50 hours. However, keep in mind that burn times can vary based on how the candle is used and maintained.

How should I properly care for my candles?

  • Please see above for candle care and instructions on use.

Can I leave a candle unattended while it's burning?

  • For safety reasons, we advise against leaving a burning candle unattended. It's essential to keep candles within sight and extinguish them before leaving the room or going to sleep. Make sure to place candles in a secure location, away from children and pets.

How can I remove wax from surfaces?

  • If candle wax accidentally drips onto a surface, there are a few methods to remove it safely. One method is to place a paper towel over the wax and gently apply heat with a hairdryer. The heat will soften the wax, allowing you to wipe it away. Alternatively, you can place the affected item in the freezer for a short period, then carefully scrape off the hardened wax. If proper candle care steps are followed, this should not be an issue.

 

Do you use any harmful ingredients in your candles?

  • No, our candles are made with high-quality, non-toxic soy wax and clean-burning fragrance oils. We prioritize using natural waxes and lead-free wicks to ensure a clean and safe burning experience.

What size candle do I need for my space?

  • One candle works great in bathrooms, kitchens, bedrooms and typically-sized living/work spaces. Larger rooms or spaces with high ceilings or open floor plans may need multiple candles for the best fragrance permeation. You can have multiple candles of the same scent, or mix and match them for your own unique blend.

 

Do you ship internationally?

  • Not at this time. We are looking to scale internationally in the future.
